MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Internal Audit Directorate is to enhance and protect organisational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, consulting advice, and insight. The Internal Audit Directorate helps the University to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes using standards for the professional practice of Internal Auditing as adopted by the Internal Audit Agency.

VISION STATEMENT

To become a preferred professional directorate for the University and other organisations in the region and beyond for assurance, consulting, and advisory services.

FOCUS

1. Appraise and report on the adequacy of controls operating in the University
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management and governance processes and contribute to its improvement
3. Provide reasonable assurance on the efficiency, effectiveness, and economy in the administration of the programmes and operations of the University
4. Evaluate the extent of compliance of the University with relevant laws, policies, standards, systems, and procedures.
