Aim of Programme

The Higher National Diploma programme in Statistics is a career-focused programme with a three (3) year duration. It is designed to train students to acquire competencies in the application of statistics in the world of work. The need for Statistics in business and science education is crucial in any economy especially, in this digital information age. This is more relevant to a developing country like Ghana, which is struggling to promote science and specifically Statistics education and its usage in the various sectors of the economy.

Entry Requirement

  • SSSCE Candidates

The applicants must have credit passes (A–D) in three (3) core subjects including, English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies, plus three (3) credit passes in elective subjects including elective mathematics (minimum of grade C) with a total aggregate not exceeding 24.

  • WASSCE Candidates

The applicants must have credit passes (A1–D7) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, plus three (3) credit passes in elective subjects including Elective Mathematics with a total aggregate not exceeding 36.

  • Applicants from Technical Institutes

Applicants from Technical Institutes with passes in the relevant elective courses including Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science may be admitted to an intensive Six (6) months bridging(pre-degree) programme before formal admission to the programme after passing a selection examination.

  • Mature Applicants

The applicant must be at least 25 years old, and show proof of age with a birth certificate, baptismal certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.

Mature applicants must pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University. A considerable number of years of relevant working experience may be required.
