Overview
The Diploma in Food Innovation and Product Design aims to equip learners with practical and creative skills to design, develop and commercialize innovative food products, and to foster entrepreneurial thinking and technical competence in food formulation, sensory evaluation and market analysis. It also promotes inclusive, hands-on education that empowers youth and marginalized groups to participate in the national food economy.
Entry Requirements
- SSSCE/WASSCE or equivalent: Three (3) credit passes (A–D or A1–D7) in core subjects — English, Mathematics and Integrated Science — plus two (2) credit passes (A–D or A1–D7) in relevant electives:
- Chemistry, Biology and Physics / Elective Mathematics
- General Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Crop Husbandry, Chemistry and Physics / Elective Mathematics / Biology
- Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, Biology and Chemistry
- GCE A/O Level applicants: Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, plus two GCE ‘A’ Level passes in any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture.
- Foreign students may be admitted based on qualifications from their home country, for which the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) shall determine equivalences and eligibility.
Mature Applicants
- Must be at least 25 years old.
- Must have a pure science, agriculture or home economics background from GCE O & A Levels or SSSCE/WASSCE.
- Must have at least two years of working experience in the food industry and pass an Entrance Examination.
Career Opportunities
Graduates are prepared for careers in food product development, food formulation and sensory evaluation, and are well positioned to establish their own food enterprises in the agrifood economy.
