GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 4-YEAR B.TECH PROGRAMMES     

  1. i) SSSCE Applicants 

Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) passes (A-D) in relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better.

  1. ii) WASSCE Applicants

Credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) credit passes (A1-C6) in three relevant elective subjects.  The cumulative aggregate must be 36 or better.

(iii) GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants

Applicants must possess six (6) GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and General Science plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in the relevant courses.

  1. iv) Applicants from Technical Institutions

Applicants from Technical Institutes must possess credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes in relevant elective courses.

Applicants from Technical Institutes with the requisite elective passes without passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science may be admitted to a two (2) month intensive bridging (pre-degree) programme before formal admission to their programmes of choice after passing a selection examination.

  1. v) Applicants with Technician Certificate

Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians II (MVT II) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 200.

Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians III (MVT III) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 300.

  1. vi) HND Applicants 
  • HND graduates with the requisite specialization will enroll at level 300.
  • HND graduates with requisite specialization will enroll at level 200 (Mechatronics)
  • Applicants with University Diploma in the relevant subjects will enroll at level 300.
  • Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) will enroll at level 200.

vii)  Technician Applicants

At least Part II and III Technicians Certificate Holders in EET or Radio & Television or

Telecommunication Technician plus English, Mathematics and Science or

EET II or Radio & Television Technician II or

Telecommunication Technician II with passes in English, Mathematics & Science at the SSSCE/WASSCE level.

viii)  Applicants with DBS Certificates                                                                                            

  • Applicants with DBS Certificates must possess credit passes in Four (4) WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Holders of DBS Marketing DBS Purchasing and Supply and DBS Secretaryship may be enrolled at Level 200 on the respective BTech Programme.
  1. ix) Mature Applicants
  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with Birth Certificate and Ghana Card.
  • Applicants must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HND PROGRAMMES

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANT
  • SSSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization. 
  • Alternatively, SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants with passes (A-D)/(A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and a minimum of D/C6 in any two (2) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization are eligible to apply.
  1. GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS

Five (5) GBCE /GCE ‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

  • APPLICANTS FROM TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS)

Applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.

  1. DBS APPLICANTS

Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.

  1. TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.

Applicant must have a Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four-Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

  1. Mature Applicants
  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with Birth Certificate and Ghana Card.
  • Applicants must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. DBS–(Accounting/Management/Marketing/Purchasing & Supply/ Entrepreneurship/ Secretarial Options) 
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (including English and Mathematics) Or
  • Four (4) GCE O-Level passes (including English Language and Mathematics) Or
  • Four (4) GBCE (RSA II) passes (including English Language & Business Mathematics) Or
  • NACVET/NVTI Typist/ 2 or 3 passes in Stenographer Certificate (for Secretarial option)
  1. DBS–(Statistics and Information Technology Options)
    • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (including English, Mathematics plus Elective Mathematics or Physics) Or
    • Four (4) GCE O-Level passes (including English Language and Mathematics, Additional Mathematics or Physics)
  1. Certificate II in Fashion Design and Textiles:-2-Years
  • Passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/’O’ Level subjects.
  • National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Fashion Certificate Grade I or Grade II or equivalent.
  1. Advanced Fashion Design and Textiles:-2-Year
  • Holders of City and Guilds Certificate in Fashion & Designing (Dressmaking and Tailoring) Or
  • Intermediate Dressmaking/Fashion Certificate plus at least one (1) year of relevant practical experience Or
  • Four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other elective subjects plus basic knowledge and skills in Dressmaking Or
  • Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language Mathematics plus knowledge in Dressmaking.
  1. Construction Technician Certificate (CTC) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Technical Drawing.
  • Technical Construction option Subjects: Craft (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing) and Advanced (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing.)
  • Passes in General Course in Construction (GCC)
  1. Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science
  • Technical Option Subjects: Engineering Crafts, Intermediate General Engineering (GE), MECP
    • Technical Option Subjects: MVM, Intermediate General Engineering (GE)
  1. Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science and any two of the following – Applied Electricity/Electronics, Physics, Mathematics. 
  1. Catering Certificate II – 2 years
    • Passes in relevant SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/ GCE O-Level subjects.
    • NVTI Grade II or JHS Certificate with working experience.
  1. Certificate in Draught Manship
  • JHS Certificate with working experience
  1. BRIDGING PROGRAMME

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) may admit applicants who have D7 in any of the three (3) core subjects (i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant electives subjects including Physics and Elective Mathematics with an aggregate not exceeding 36 to undergo a two (2) month intensive bridging (pre-degree) programme prior to formal admission to the following programmes after passing a selection examination. They are:

  • Automotive Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Renewable Energy Systems Engineering
  • Civil Engineering 
  1. E) PRE-HND PROGRAMME

The National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) currently under the auspices of CTVET has designed an access course for Technical/Vocational Institute graduates into HND Programmes.

  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Renewable Energy Systems Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Building Technology
  • Hospitality Management
  • Fashion Design & Textiles

  • Post-Harvest Technology 

Duration – One (1) academic year (i.e. Two (2) semesters of 16 weeks per semester)

Note: Candidates would be required to obtain at least 50% in each of the three (3) subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Technical/Vocational Applicants who have deficiencies in their Core Courses
  2. Applicants must have a minimum of a Craft Course. Or
  • Applicants must have MET I, MVT I and EET I or its equivalent. Or
  1. Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Craft Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized examination body. With regards to Hospitality Management, applicants must have Cookery 812/2. 
  1. F) MODE OF APPLICATION

Applicants can only apply online via Koforidua Technical University’s online application portal. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Ghanaian Applicants are to make a payment of One Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis (GH¢180.00) for the Koforidua Technical University On-line Serial Numbers (OSN) E-Vouchers at any Republic Bank, Fidelity Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) branches throughout the country.
  2. Foreign Applicants can purchase E-Vouchers online at the cost of Fifty US Dollars ($50.00).
  3. Access the Online forms by visiting our online application portal at https://applyonline.ktu.edu.gh with the e-voucher.
  1. When completing the online forms, applicants will be required to upload their passport-size photographs and result slips/certificates. Note: Photographs must be on a white background. 
  1. Applicants awaiting results are eligible to apply.

Online applications should be submitted not later than January 31, 2024.
